Who We Are
Camp is built by people who care deeply.
No Ordinary Camps is led by a dedicated board of directors and staff team with deep experience in pediatric burn care, camp programming, nonprofit operations, family support, and community engagement.
Together with our medical partners, camp professionals, firefighters, adult burn survivors, and carefully selected volunteers, we create meaningful programs for young burn survivors and their families.
Our team culture is rooted in preparation, humility, inclusion, and care. We believe camp works best when every adult is aligned around camper safety, dignity, belonging, and growth.

A Multidisciplinary Community
The larger team that surrounds every camper.
Medical Team
During camp, our programs are supported by a multidisciplinary medical team that can address campers’ needs throughout injury, recovery, and aftercare. The team includes occupational and physical therapists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and child life specialists. Together, they support our campers, families, and staff, with every effort made to address each camper’s individual medical and therapy needs.
Campers with greater medical or therapy needs may be seen daily for range-of-motion exercises, scar massage, pressure garment needs, or splinting support.
Camp Professionals & Specialized Volunteers
No Ordinary Camps works with experienced camp professionals and carefully selected volunteers to create safe, meaningful programs for campers. At Summer Burn Camp, professional staff from Cheley Colorado Camps help lead the camp experience, bringing deep expertise in youth development, outdoor adventure, cabin life, and program facilitation.
Our programs may also include medical providers from referring burn centers, adult burn survivors serving as counselors, and community volunteers with specific skills that meet program needs. These roles are limited and intentional, with every staff member and volunteer selected to support camper safety, belonging, and growth.
During Winter Burn Camp, campers are supported by Steamboat Snowsports School instructors, who help campers learn or build skiing and snowboarding skills in a safe, encouraging mountain environment.
Hospital & Burn Center Partners
Our camp programs partner with burn centers across the U.S. and internationally. Medical professionals, often nurses or therapists, from these centers may participate as counselors during camp. This gives them the opportunity to see their patients in the camp environment and share the impact of camp with their teams and other families.

Firefighters have long been part of our camp community. The Denver Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation has been a longtime supporter and generous donor to our programs. Firefighters are often among the first responders at the scene of a burn injury, helping children reach safety and medical care without always knowing what happens afterward.
Serving as camp counselors gives firefighters the opportunity to see the growth and healing of young burn survivors. The experience can be meaningful and restorative for them as well.
