The Experience
Skiing & Snowboarding
Winter Burn Camp is a youth development ski and snowboard program for teen burn survivors held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Campers build confidence on and off the mountain with support from camp staff, medical providers, and instructors from Steamboat Snowsports School.

Skills & Challenge
On the Mountain
Campers are grouped by skill level for skiing and snowboarding. Each group has an instructor from Steamboat Snowsports School along with at least one adult camp counselor or hospital staff member.
Throughout the week, campers learn new skills, practice independence, and take on physical and emotional challenges in a supportive environment. Whether they are new to winter sports or building on past experience, campers are encouraged to stretch themselves while staying connected to the camp community.
Connection & Reflection
Beyond the Mountain
The program helps campers translate their experiences on the slopes into real-life lessons they can carry home. Challenges on the mountain become opportunities to practice perseverance, confidence, peer connection, and trust in themselves.
Evenings give campers time to relax, reconnect, and take part in intentional programming with friends and staff. Through reflection and skill-building activities, campers process the day's experiences, deepen peer connections, and practice tools they can apply to challenges at school, at home, and in everyday life.
Who Can Attend
Eligibility
Winter Burn Camp is open to older campers who have attended No Ordinary Camps Summer Burn Camp or who have been nominated through our partnership with Parkland Hospital and I-Thonka-Chi.
Participants should be 13 to 18 years old and currently attending middle or high school.
